There is a mandatory meeting for all competitive teams in ages U9-U14 Sunday, August 9 at 3pm. It will be held at the Hilton North off of I-69 on the north side. Schedules and information will be handed out to all that attend. It is STRONGLY suggeted that if you cannot make it that you send someone in your place from your team. Any team without representation will not be permitted to take part in the free week of reschedules.
If you happen to have a copy of your offficial Indiana Youth Soccer roster, please bring it with you and give to your commissioner. This will save you time and postage later on right before the season begins.
You will also need to have each parent sign the Code of Conduct that will be included in your packet. A copy is also available on line. This will need to be given to your commissioner BEFORE your first game. We have a NO TOLERANCE policy with the GiRLS League. Any behavior from a spectator or coaching staff that is not suitable around the players will be given a 2 game ejection by the League.

This Fall 2009 both the GiRLS and CIYSL Leagues will combine the U9 and U10 age groups. All U9 and U10 teams will apply through one application site. The link will be provided through Gotsoccer and each of the League websites. All teams U11 and above will apply through their respective Leagues whether they be GiRLS, CIYSL or ISL.
This year we will also be offering Competitive teams as well as Academy teams in U9 and U10. U8 players will be permitted to play on U9 and U10 teams. It is recommended that there be no more than 50% U8 players playing come game day. There will also be unlimitted club passing in U9 and U10 for either Academy or Competitive teams. Mary Runnells will be heading this up for us with the endorsement of Vince Ganzberg of Indiana Youth Soccer.

We are coming up on the end of another season. This season has been a very challenging one for all of us. The one issue that has brought more emails to us than anything else has been the behavior on the sidelines, from both the coaching side and the spectator side. Please keep in mind that we are here for the girls; to watch, cheer and show support. We are not meant to criticize or demean other children. It is a game.

All red card violations need to be reported to your age commissioner as soon as the game is completed. The commissioner will remind you of the sanction agains the player, spectator, coach, or manager. Failure to report this could result in team sanctions.

Recently we have received several emails and phone calls about teams not showing up with league game cards. Please note you are responsible for taking 2 copies of the league game card with you to your game. One copy must go to the referee at the game with payment (if you are listed as the home team) and the other copy must go to the opposing manager.
You do need to cross out any player on the game card that is not at the game and remember you may only bring 4 club pass players at any game and they must be listed on the game card. If you do not show up with a league game card, the referee will use the game card the opposing team has and it may not have all of your players listed.
Be proactive, make sure you have your information at the field with the referee at least 20 minutes before the start of the game. Player cards must be present but not needed unless requested by the referee or opposing team manager/coach. At this time the League does not accept handwritten names on the league game card.
Another issue we have been facing so shortly into the season is the behavior of spectators on the sidelines. All parents signed a code of conduct at the beginning of the year stating that the behavior on the sidelines would be encouraging, supportive and
respectful. If a report comes in from a referee or opposing team, the GiRLS board will send a representative to the game for observation. If the inappropriate behavior is confirmed the League will take sanctions against the offending team which could
include, but is not limited to mandating silent games, game suspensions, or issuing fines. The League does not enjoy sanctioning teams, especially for inappropriate spectator behavior, but if necessary will impose the sanctions to insure that the kids can play the game in the proper environment. Please remember, as adults we are all setting an example with our words and actions.
Thanks, Larri
